Cobu Cave sidescroller

Post by pigraham » Fri Aug 28, 2015 9:50 am

I worked out a way to paint a scrolling pattern on the LEDs from a string sprite.
drawsprite erases the entire array. Here I keep a copy of the array in column variables so that it can be repainted after drawsprite.
The string sequence this time is vertical and offset to paint just the right edge of characters to column 0 of the array. By chosing string characters carefully we can get a lunar lander / flappy bird winding terrain. I use set col to paint the scrolling landscape.

Controls are not very responsive since the buttons are only tested once per cycle.
It is just about playable, if very short.

A crash animation is played if there is a collision.
If the end of string is reached .

A bit rough, but it shows the idea.

i managed to get through to the "You Win" comment, hard to play in the emulator (probably just as hard to play on a Codebug).
